After you’ve completed your Worry List or the Emotion Release Worksheet (see “Fear Release: Step 1 – Worry List“), you’re ready to start consciously resolving your fears. We’ll also be supporting your fear resolution unconsciously both in class and through your bonus Birthing Zone CD. We can also work on unconscious fear resolution on a one-on-one basis.
To get started, you’ll need your Worry List or Emotion Release Worksheet. You’ll be going through this process with each of your fears.
-
Pick one of the fears from your list
-
Identify the purpose of the fear
-
Determine the reality of the situation
-
List the possible solutions
-
Research your possible solutions
-
Resolve the issue by choosing the best option(s)
Here’s an example of how this process works. For this example, our fear will be that I won’t have any time for myself after my baby is born.
-
Pick one of the fears from your list: I won’t have any time for myself after my baby is born.
-
Identify the purpose of the fear: To remind me that it’s important to take care of myself, even once my baby is born.
-
Determine the reality of the situation: I can make time for myself, I’ll just need to make it a priority and have a plan.
-
List the possible solutions: Working out a nanny sharing plan with friends, swapping babysitting with friends who have kids, checking with family and friends to see if they can provide support when I need it, finding play-dates, mommy’s morning out and hourly child care programs.
-
Research your possible solutions: While completing your research, be on the look-out for other solutions that you not have originally considered. In this example, while competing your research you may find a spa in your area that provides child care while you get some pampering.
-
Resolve the issue by choosing the best option(s): Sometimes in order to resolve the issue, you just need a list of possible solutions. This is true in the case of this example fear. You don’t need to choose just one solution to resolve the issue. The resolution is having several options you can choose from when you need some time for yourself. Other times, the resolution will require narrowing your options down to one choice. If you need help narrowing your options down, ask me for a copy of the R.O.A.D Map Decision-Making Process. The R.O.A.D Map is a tool to help you organize your thoughts about important decisions.
Repeat this process with each of your fears. If you need assistance along the way, just let me know. Remember, we’ll be supporting your conscious fear resolution with unconscious exercises.
